A fake Apple advert claiming the new iOS 7 software makes iPhones and iPads waterproof has apparently fooled some users into destroying their devices. The "advert" circulating on social media sites claims that updating devices with the operating system installs a "smart switch" that cuts off the phone's power supply when water is detected. This, it claims, "prevents any damage to your iPhone's delicate circuitry". The advert looks remarkably similar to an authentic Apple advertisement, with the same plain white background and minimalist font and style. It seems some users have been fooled into dunking their expensive gadgets into water to test out the promised feature, only to render their devices useless.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested another notorious cult member who has been accused of conspiracy in many murders in the Mushin area of the state. GEJ The Abubakar Baraje faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to rein back his men to avoid plunging the country into avoidable chaos. The faction  stated this in a statement in Abuja on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze. The group said that advice became necessary following the uncovering of a plot to bribe each member of the House of Representatives with N2.5m. It said that the plot was to make the House pass a vote of confidence on the President and impeachment of Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, and some other principal officers for their alleged sympathy for the Baraje-led PDP.

James Ibori By Tobi Soniyi Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court Abuja  Friday deferred judgment on the controversial  $15 million allegedly abandoned by the former Delta State governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori. The judge had initially promised to deliver judgment  Friday. The suit was filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The commission sought  an order to forfeit the money to  the Federal Government. The court will now deliver the judgment at a date to be 'communicated to the parties.' The verdict would also put to rest claims and counter claim being laid on the money by several interest groups and individuals. Details to follow
